Mikel Obi Launches Football Foundation In Lagos

Nigeria superstar has re-founded his foundation to discover talent across Africa.

Mikel, who currently plays for the Chinese Super League, Tianjin TEDA, held a football clinic with about 150 boys and girls at the Children’s International School in Lekki, Lagos, between 3-15 years.

It was found that the clinic, which took place in Lagos on 25 November, gave the youngsters the opportunity to practice first-hand.

Mikel first established the charity in 2012, and six years later, the foundation reintroduced the charity to discover young sports talents. Children of the Little Tigers Football Club also had the privilege of dealing with the former Chelsea midfielder.

While speaking in the football clinic, Mikel said; “My foundation is concerned with the children, I give the community back to Nigeria, everything has started for me at home and I will always want to return to Nigeria.

“I want to do it right this time. It was there and I think now is the time to come out and get it right.

“This is the time, it’s the right time to do things for kids, and we do not have enough to make sure it’s successful.”

[Photos] Britain Set To Return LOOTED BENIN BRONZES To Nigeria… After Over 100 Years

Some of the bronzes stolen by British soldiers from the Benin empire over 100 years will now be returned to Nigeria. Under certain conditions, CNN reports.

According to CNN, the Benin Dialogue Group (BDG), composed of representatives of various European museums, the Benin Royal Court, the Edo State Government and the National Commission of Museums and Monuments of Nigeria, reached an agreement in October to “The most famous pieces “return to Nigeria within three years for an exhibition at the new Benin Royal Museum in Edo State.

The return of the artifacts depends on the completion of the Royal Museum of Benin, whose designs are being completed, according to a spokesman for Governor Godwin Obaseki, Crusoe Osagie.

“We are grateful to be taking these steps, but we hope these are just the first steps. If you have stolen property, you must return it, “said Osagie.

Osagie also called for more pressure on European governments to return plundered colonial artefacts.

A spokesman for the British Museum said, according to CNN:

“The main agenda item (at the October meeting) was how partners can work together to set up a museum in Benin City with a rotation of Benin artworks from a consortium of European museums.

The museums present have all agreed to provide changing artefacts to the Royal Museum in Benin, to give advice on the design of buildings and exhibitions when needed, and to collaborate with the Nigerian partners in developing training, funding and legal frameworks new planned museum.

Photos: EFCC Releases Pictures Of Properties Owned By Fayose, While He Is Still In Custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released photos showing properties allegedly owned by the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose.

Spokesman for the Commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, sent copies of the pictures to OkayNG.com on Wednesday.According to him, the properties were uncovered while the anti-graft agency was investigating the allegations of corruption against the former governor.

He alleged that Mr Fayose purchased the property with the money he purportedly received from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki.

“In the course of investigating corruption allegations against ex-governor Ayodele Fayose, especially the N1.3billion which he collected from the office of the National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, the Commission unearthed evidence that he laundered the funds into the acquisition of properties in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos,” Mr Wilson alleged.

The EFCC released the pictures a day after the former governor arrived at its head office in Abuja, in company with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and a former minister, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, among other well-wishers.

Finally, INEC Declares APC’s Oyetola Gboyega The Winner Of Osun Governorship Election

The APC has just been officially declared winner in the just concluded Osun Gubernatorial Election by INEC. The APC polled a total of 255,505, while the PDP polled a total of 255,023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Isiaka Oyetola, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the Osun State governorship election.

Joseph Afuwape, IENC’s Returning Officer, made the declaration on Thursday night after the results of the rerun were declared at the secretariat of the commission in Osogbo, capital of the state.

Coming into the rerun, Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had a slight lead, having polled 254,699 votes while Oyetola polled 254,345 votes in the initial election held on Saturday, September 22.

However, in the rerun, Adeleke polled 325 votes to Oyetola’s 1160. Consequently, according to INEC, Oyetola polled a total of 255,505 votes overall to defeat Adeleke, who recorded a cumulative 255,023 votes.
